Teach your child to speak a foreign language

More and more people are travelling abroad, for their vacations, business or to find a new life in a new country.

This can be a great challenge, more so, if you are an adult and cannot speak the language! Children on the other hand adapt well, especially pre-school children, who when they start to learn a language, can mimic the sounds they hear. Children, even at an early age can learn more than one language and have the ability not to confuse them.

It gives them a greater grasp of their first language and a larger, richer vocabulary.

They get a bigger view of the world by the pleasure of learning languages and thus opening their minds to language diversity and so to diversity in general, also building and keeping cultural connections. It encourages life long love of communicating with others. Learning languages at an early age provides a child with a firm foundation for greater success with respect to their education and career prospects.

Children who learn a second language often score high on standard tests. It increases greater memory capacity and mental power and because they are able to speak in a different and unusual way it greatly increases their confidence.

If your child is learning another language, this is a great opportunity for all the family to join in and learn as well!

CHILDRENS' CLASSICS

Here are some of the most wonderful stories for children! I've read and re-read most of them myself and read them to my children when they were little. Even now, I like to read them again, and my absolute favourite is 'The Box of Delights', which I feel should be read around the Christmas period. This gives the book a really atmospheric feeling! Especially when it is dusk, the wind howling and the rain lashing against the window pane, and you are snug and warm inside!!
